A note from Kevin
Incorporated in 1979, K. P. Gillen & Co. Realty Ltd., Brokerage (KPG & Co) . originally specialized in high- end mid-town residential resale. In late 1986 the firm transitioned into the sales, marketing, and leasing of small to medium sized commercial office buildings. In addition, KPG & Co. became involved in the sale of residential “midrise” development sites. As broker principal I soon learned that the same type of customer service, follow-up and personal interest that had made me a top residential producer was rarely employed by the commercial/industrial real estate brokerage sector. I found that commercial clients really do appreciate this type of relationship – I had found my niche.

and numerous small professional and service businesses seeking commercial interesting and collaborative workspace. In the early to mid 90s’ I worked extensively with the special loans and legal departments of the aforementioned financial institutions and on behalf of the trustees or receivers (such as Peat Marwick Thorne) of failed financial institutions. Subsequently, I worked for the eventual buyers of these large commercial real estate portfolios. i.e. Amresco Canada, Brazos Advisors, C.M.L.Q. and C.R.E.O. Investors L.P. Client service is a key component of how we do business.
In addition to the sales and marketing of these properties, our firm offers “after sale” follow-up services including both retail and office leasing (as may be required by those clients who intend to occupy only a potion of their properties).
We look forward to helping you direct the future of your business.
Yours truly,
Kevin P. Gillen FRI

My father was a founding partner and president of Gillen Associates Real Estate Ltd. from 1956 until 1978 when the partnership was dissolved. This firm was involved with commercial, retail, and residential redevelopment as agents and as principals. Although licensed with this firm in 1973 and having been virtually raised in the real estate marketing business, it was not until 1975 that I went to work full time at Gillen Associates as a salesman. At this time, I became a member of the Toronto Real Estate Board registering first as a sales representative and then as a broker in 1976. I am now a 48-year member of the Board, and earned my designation as a Fellow of the Real Estate Institute in 2015.
